Well folks, let me just start this little column thingy by saying, Brian's been really busy since the last Siloam album. For some, the idea of him writing a novel may come as a big surprise, but for those of us who know him, it's basically just the next step in his evolving artistic development. You fans from his Siloam days have probably been wondering where he's been hiding all this time. To be honest, the answer’s kinda complicated. You could say he's been in hibernation, or even in a recuperation phase after all of the touring. You could also say he’s been figuring out the meaning of life, as well as getting kinda fat (just joking!). Mostly though, he's been writing, or to put it in his own words, "Learning how to write." Anyway, he seems to have figured it all out, whatever "it" is. The book is done and he's on the fast track to getting back into pretty awesome shape again. (lol)
Time for a little history:
To say that Brian's had a colorful past would be an understatement. For sure he's done a lot of traveling and has seen and done pretty much everything there is to see and do. Some of it would be legal, a lot of it probably not.
But what makes him different or even odd, (yes, I've got permission to say whatever I want) would have to be his passion. He's got to be about the most driven person I've ever met. He’s driven to glory and driven to disaster, sometimes all in the same day. This is what has made his life so interesting, and for sure will have me sticking around to see what happens in the future.
Anyway, I'll go into details later. (I've got a lot more writing to do in other sections first.) For now, I'll just let him tell part of the story. Yeah, I've lifted it from his bio. Well, Carol said it was OK, so click 'Here' to read it.
OK, now about the book. For sure there are at least a few of you (OK, more than a few!) who'd like to get your nose into a copy. But, alas, Brian's nasty editor won't let me post anything yet. And yet is the operative word here. I'm hopeful, so cross your fingers, it's coming!!! I do promise you a synopsis within a day or two. I've been told that I'll have it in my hands tomorrow at the latest.
The whole novel thing has taken about four years (oh, and in case you're wondering, I've only known him for a year). OK, I guess this is a good place to give you a little background on our relationship. I'm what you'd call a "budding" artist. You know, the chick that likes to draw and paint and always has a camera nearby. I've even been starting my own book... Uhmmmm, yeah, for about a year now! I've been told that once I get this site up and running that maybe, if I'm good, I can post some of my stuff too.
Anyway, back on track. Brian and I really hit it off when we met. I was, I guess, more than a little intimidated by who he was and everything he'd accomplished in his career. Yet, he was so approachable, and probably the first "adult" who didn't treat me like an idiot teenager. Right away I fell in love with his music, and began begging him to let me read some of his book. And it all just sorta took off from there. I'd read his first, second, and third drafts of each chapter while he totally dissected my brain, telling me not to hate my father and run away with the circus. So, the book got finished and my dad turned out not to be the creep I thought he was.
